How to use Cucumber and Lemon For a Simple Blackhead and Acne Remedy

Posted on the January 28th, 2010 under Acne Solutions by admin

Some of the best acne remedy ingredients can be found right in the produce aisle in your local supermarket.  For example, lemons and cucumbers are excellent foods to combat acne.  This is because they contain a powerful one-two punch–vitamin C and antioxidants.  Vitamin C itself is one of the best acne remedies due to it cleansing and detoxifying properties.  Lemons and cucumbers also contain mild acids that eradicate the bacteria that causes acne blemishes to swell.  The antioxidants in these fruits also fight free radicals that cause the sebum in the pores to oxidize.

Whether or not you use cucumbers or lemons as your homemade acne remedy depends on personal preference.  Some like to use lemon because it contains more vitamin C and has a pleasant aroma.  But if the acid too harsh for sensitive skin, using a cucumber will be your best bet.

To create your acne natural remedy, slice your lemon or cucumber.  The slices don’t have too be large, just big enough to use on your face.  Moisten your face with lukewarm water.  Then, rub the lemon or cucumber on your face in a circular motion until you get a good amount of juice and pulp all over your skin.  You can either leave the juice on as a mask, and leave it on for 5-10 minutes, or you can rinse it off immediately if you’re short on time.  If you decide to leave it on, you can re-wash your face with the lemon/cucumber before doing a final rinse with cool water. For optimal results, use spring or distilled water for rinsing.

Of course there are other remedies for acne good for treating blemishes from the inside.  Good antioxidant supplements to take are:

  • Multi Carotene.  Contains several antioxidants in the carotene family including Beta Carotene.  Natural source of vitamin A, which helps the removal of dead skin cells, reducing the chances of clogged pores.
  • Vitamin C.  Create for detoxifying and also improves the appearance of scars.
  • Vitamin E.  Fights free radicals, thus protecting the cells from damage. Also a great immune system booster.
  • Omega 3.  An essential fatty acid that balances the bad cholesterol and fats in the body, including unhealthy fats that contribute to acne.
  • Evening Primrose Oil.  A natural hormone stabilizer that has great secondary benefits for the skin.

Using organic whole food supplements are better for your health and more effective than synthetic versions.

The next time you go shopping for groceries don’t forget to pick up some lemon, cucumbers, and good vitamins for your all natural acne remedy needs.
