Three Cheap Acne Home Remedies That You May Not Know About

Posted on the January 30th, 2010 under Acne Solutions by admin

There are a ton of acne home remedies, and you have most likely seen a variety on the internet already.  The great thing about home remedies for acne is the cheapness of the ingredients minus the side-effects.  But are these remedies effective?  Well it all depends on you and your particular condition–what works for some may not work for all.  But since an acne home remedy is unlikely to cause you harm or worsen your condition, it may very well be worth trying.  Listed below are three home acne remedies that you may not have heard of.

#1.  Baking Soda and Water

Ok, maybe you have heard of this remedy, but it works so well that is deserves a mention.  Sodium Bicarbonate, or baking soda, is a natural, non-toxic exfoliant that also absorbs excess sebum (oil).  It is also good for healing blemishes more quickly.  Baking soda is especially ideal for those with sensitive skin that cannot normally use facial scrubs.  Creating this remedy is easy as all you need is a little baking soda and water (spring, filtered, or distilled).  Make a thick paste with the water and baking soda, then apply to the face and let it sit for 15 minutes.  Rinse off with warm water and follow with a light moisturizer.

#2.  Blistex

Blistex is famous for soothing and healing cracked, chapped lips, but did you know that it can help clear up your skin?  Blistex effectiveness is due to the ingredient, phenol, which kills bacteria.  Now you should be careful since phenol may also be irritating to the skin.  So approach this simple home remedy for acne with caution.

Before bedtime, wash your face with a gentle cleanser and rinse with lukewarm water.  Pat dry.  Apply your favorite light moisturizer, then dab a little Blistex to your pimples.  Don’t be alarmed when you feel the tingling sensation.  Immediately wash your face in the morning, and you should immediately see improvement in your skin.

To be extra careful, the first time you use Blistex, only dab on one pimple to make sure your skin doesn’t have any adverse reactions.

#3.  Aloe Vera, Cold Water and Sea Salt

This triple combination will soothe, soften, and exfoliate your skin in one shot.  Aloe Vera moisturizes and heals the skin faster and prevents acne scars.  Sea salt kills bacteria, helps regulate the overproduction of sebum, and is a gentle exfoliator.  The cold water is invigorating, refreshing, and helps to keep dryness and redness under control.

First, run a cold bath, adding salt in the water as it runs.  Soak in the water for up to ten minutes.  Alternatively you can fill up a bowl with cold water and salt, wet a washcloth with the solution, and place it over your face for ten minutes.  Pat your body/face dry and apply natural Aloe Vera gel (100% pure, no alcohol or other chemical added) to your skin.  Leave the Aloe on overnight, and wash it off the next morning with a gentle cleanser.  Repeat this every night and you will notice an improvement within days.

There are many home remedies for curing acne, so you should research other methods as well.  However, the three acne home remedies above are great to start off with.
